Summer Camp Advisory Team is the provider of summer day camps for IDEAS Summer Camp in Annapolis, MD. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children by simultaneously fostering fun and building character. Leadership, teamwork, preparation, initiative, and effort are life skills echoed repeatedly throughout our curriculum. We hire experienced and extraordinary teachers, coaches, and students of education, who are dedicated to cultivating these skills

Position Overview

This person oversees the entire camp day to day operations of the camp. The Camp Director oversees and is responsible for: all summer camp personnel; meeting all state required regulations for licensure; the integrity and implementation of the curriculum; and above all - the safety of all campers.

• Reports directly to the Executive Director of Summer Camps for direction and support.
• Additional tasks include: maintaining positive communication and relationships with the school staff and points of contact; parent communication; medical and emergency procedures manager.

Job Description: The Camp Director's role is to supervise, coach, and provide constructive feedback to a minimum of six direct reports, while working closely with Summer Camp Advisory Team Headquarters to ensure that each camper has a safe and rewarding experience. Camp Directors are enthusiastic, organized, and motivated individuals. They are confident in their ability to supervise counselor leads, as well as interact with campers, parents, counselors and facility partners. This position will closely and directly monitor all programs to guarantee they are executed to IDEASCamp's standards. Extremely high energy and endurance is required for the Camp Director position. The Camp Director is the "Last-Word Leader onsite" at all times.

The Camp Director must live IDEAS Camp's core values at all times, be a pillar of consistent effort, and a role model for all IDEAS Camp staff members. The Camp Director must always prioritize operating a safe camp, while being a proactive resource, problem solver and sounding board for all parent concerns. Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with the facility partners, i.e. liaising with site operations manager and administration, all play a crucial role in this job.

Job Type: Full-Time Seasonal

Camp Dates: June 8 to August 1, 2025

Job Location: Seton LaSalle High School - 1000 McNeily Rd. Pittsburgh PA

Wage: $850 per Week

Anticipated Work Hours Per Week: 45 hours per week

Must be able to attend required training:

• In-person PAID training on Saturday, June 6 & Sunday, June 7 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Qualifications

Required education:

• Career or equivalent experience in education or camp-related field
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain

Required experience:

• 3+ years of camp experience or experience in teaching, working in a camp environment, and working with children
• 2+ years experience supervising and developing direct reports
• Comfort with public speaking (to parents, staff and groups of campers)
• Prior camp experience preferred
