What will I be doing?
Under the general supervision of the Crime Analyst Supervisor (CAS) of the Quality Assurance and Firearm Record Review Teams, the Crime Analyst (CA) I is responsible for processing Firearm and Ammunition Record Review applications received from individuals who were denied a firearms related permit, employment requiring the possession or ownership of a firearm, or the ability to purchase, sell, transfer, and/or register a firearm or ammunition after an initial Basic Firearms Eligibility Check (BFEC) or Basic Ammunition Eligibility Check (BAEC) was conducted. The CA I conducts a new BFEC or BAEC, as appropriate, for applicants to ascertain the individual’s ability to own or possess firearms and ammunition. On occasion, the CA I may be required to work mandatory overtime or assist other Bureau of Firearm Eligibility Branch Teams. Time off requests between the months of November through January may not be granted.

DOJ has adopted telework for employees who can effectively perform their essential work functions remotely. Department Information
- This position is located in the Division of Law Enforcement, Bureau of Firearms in Sacramento.
- Please note that this classification contains multiple salary ranges. New-to-State employees will be given the minimum salary of Range A, unless you meet Alternate Range Criteria 494.
