Job Description
The General Manager is responsible for taking charge of the team, leading by example, ensuring the client and member experience is top-notch, that the team as a whole hits its daily, weekly, and monthly revenue goals, and seeks to carry out ownership goals as their own.
Responsibilities:
Accountability of Staff - Ensure daily revenue targets are set, clearly communicated, and pursued to attainment
- Ensure all staff attend weekly sales coaching calls
- Ensure staff are positive, enthusiastic, focused, and on task
- To set the tone and attack speed for the rest of the team
- Keep it positive, keep it enthusiastic, and keep the team motivated
Revenue/ Finances - Monthly revenue targets will be set with ownership on a monthly basis
- Manager will update the owners daily on the status
- The Manager will ensure the team is performing and hitting daily targets that contribute towards the monthly target
- Revenue attainment is not optional
- The manager will look for new revenue opportunities and meet with owners to discuss
- Manager to understand the monthly budget and work to ensure profitability
- Check the safe weekly, add up safe deposits, report to ownership, and make a deposit
Marketing - The manager will work with the marketing lead to ensure a marketing plan is built out and adhered to
- The manager will ensure that the marketing lead is up to date on big projects and tasked with items to contribute toward target attainment in regard to the marketing responsibilities
- The manager is responsible for establishing relationships with strategic partners in the community to grow the membership base and the gym's presence
Staff - The manager will ensure we are fully staffed every day of the week
- The manager will cover any empty shifts that aren't staffed with no excuses
- The manager will train all staff effectively, hold staff accountable to targets and expectations, and ensure all staff are contributing
- Manager to run payroll after the first and 15th to ensure employees get paid on time
- Manager to ensure all employee paperwork is completely filled out and current at all times
- Ensure staff know how to properly utilize the POS system so as not to lose money
Cleaning - The manager is ultimately responsible for the cleanliness of the gym
- Manager to hire and retain a cleaner on staff and to ensure they understand the expectations
- Manager to ensure that the daily staff are doing their share by taking care of closing and opening tasks that include taking out trash and picking up the gym
- Manager to do periodic quality checks to ensure the gym is to the correct standard
Facilities - Manager to keep a list of facility maintenance and updates that need to be completed
- Manager to coordinate with owners on repairs and maintenance, but to eventually take over the responsibility for doing so
- Manager to keep an inventory of equipment
- Manager to be responsible for preventative maintenance of equipment (cleaning equipment, lubing cable machines, etc.)
- Manager to coordinate with the cleaner to order proper cleaning supplies from Waxie and other vendors
- Manager to ensure clean and orderly maintenance of HVAC room and the supply room in the back
Qualifications:
The manager must meet the following qualifications:
- Problem solver
- Takes ownership of any situation
- Goal and task-oriented
- Has sales experience
- Willing to learn, adapt, and implement
- Understands POS systems
- Has basic accounting skills
- Must be enthusiastic and personable
Compensation:
$19 hourly + DOE
