Amentum is seeking an advanced Mechanical Maintenance Technician IV for our 2nd shift industrial maintenance team in Decatur, IL! Typical work schedule is 2 pm – 10:30 pm; hours may vary based on business demand. This maintenance mechanic is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility mechanical equipment and systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, etc. in an industrial environment. Strong mechanical skills are required. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician 4 must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required. Responsibilities include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing facility mechanical systems; pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; HVAC equipment, blowers, and fans; commercial doors including those made by Rytek, DoorMan, Mega Door, DynaCo Doors, and similar manufacturers; heat exchange equipment; basic pipefitting repairs; basic electrical issues; conducting preventive maintenance inspections and performing required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.; assisting in the movement of machines/fixtures, materials, and equipment as required; performing preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards; recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance; analyzing and resolving work problems or assisting workers in solving work problems; understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations; safely performing functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required; operating various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions; operating a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work; maintaining a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrating flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer; and other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or demonstrated equivalent, five years of experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience, and the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher. Additional information includes passing a pre-employment substance abuse test, possible requirement of a valid Driver’s License, no sponsorship for United States work authorization, ability to obtain a security access badge at client’s location, and various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules. Physical requirements include the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs multiple times during shift, bend/stoop, squat, kneel, move in a 90-degree fashion, stretch/reach, walk extensively throughout the plant, use a utility knife, differentiate wire color-coding, repetitive wrist movement, and interact professionally with clients despite stress. Special requirements include wearing steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed, coping with job-related stressors, and willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends. Preferred qualifications include an Associates degree or technical certification in industrial mechanical, HVAC, or related Facility Maintenance discipline; experience with building mechanical equipment operation, diagnostics, and repairs; preventive maintenance on facility related equipment; pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work; welding using MIG, TIG, and arc welders; basic plumbing needs; basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs; and working in a CMMS environment.
