The Certified Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations. Essential Functions include providing excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully, preparing and reviewing patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records, measuring vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height, performing departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed, troubleshooting and resolving problems promptly, and other duties as assigned. Education required is a High School Degree or GED. Licensure/Certification required is an active Medical Assisting certification from recognized organizations or an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) if unable to obtain MA certification (except in South Carolina). BLS Basic Life Support certification is required or preferred depending on location. Experience preferred includes one year of medical assistant healthcare experience and two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office. Skills required include problem-solving, basic computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and professional engagement with staff and patients.
