All Hamilton County Health Department employees are responsible for ensuring their contact information is current and they are accessible should a public health emergency arise. The Hamilton County Health Department maintains a call down system to store contact information and mobilize staff in the event of an emergency. During a public health emergency, all staff are required to respond should a call to mobilize be made. During a public health emergency, work hours for any and all Hamilton County Health Department employees are subject to modification to meet the needs of the community. Under general supervision of a physician, performs advanced professional nursing duties with a focus on reproductive and sexual health services at Hamilton County Health Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Minimum Qualifications A registered nurse with a Master's Degree with a major in the clinical nursing specialty of family practice and preparation in specialized practitioner skills; Must have a Certificate of Fitness issued by the Tennessee Board of Nursing; must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered professional nurse in Tennessee and current national certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area. A valid driver's license is required. OR: A new graduate with a Master's of Science Degree in Nursing may be considered, but must be eligible to sit for the Advanced Practice Nurse Certification test and be eligible to apply for a certificate of Fitness issued by the Tennessee Board of Nursing plus a minimum of 500 hours of working or training as a clinician in a women's health or primary care setting. If hired, the new graduate must obtain Advanced Practice Nurse Certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area and a Certificate of Fitness within three (3) months of hire. A valid driver's license is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Work requires long periods of standing, walking, lifting medical supplies weighing up to 10 pounds, assisting patients in transfers to examination tables, performing routine lab work such as blood draws and specimen collection; extended periods of extensive contact with infectious diseases and mentally ill patients, driving to other clinics, to provide case management, or community education presentations.
