The Boeing Company is seeking a **Senior Electrophysics/Optical Engineer** in **El Segundo, CA** to support multiple space programs. **Position Responsibilities:** + Design, build and test of medium to high power EDFAs for source generation and intensity optimization + Development of algorithms for detection, modulation and encoding + Development of high speed/low timing jitter optical detectors for precision timing and communication for spacecraft systems + Design of circuitry to create high repetition rate pulsed lasers is included in this job, along with requirements development for laser communication systems for satellite communications This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. **This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance Post Start is required** . **Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience** ): + Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science + Lab experience with the use of lasers and optical amplifiers including optical bench test configurations to verify pulsed and CW laser systems at low to medium power + Familiar with laser safety training ​ **Relocation:** This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. **Shift:** This is a 1st shift position. **Drug-Free Workplace:** Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies. **Total Rewards & Pay Transparency:** At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
