Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Sr. Shop Trailer Mechanic. This is a dedicated on-site shop position and we do not provide emergency side of the road type repairs. The Sr Shop Trailer Technician will be responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, and other duties such as aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body and framework. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Trailer Technician I/II. Considered the Lead on jobsites by customers and Technicians. Functions as a consultant on the customer's behalf. A successful Sr Shop Trailer Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics. Duties include following safe operating practices, determining parts required, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, applying technical knowledge, working with Service Writer to assess customer needs, managing tasks, acting with integrity, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and DOT inspections, routine maintenance, using hand tools and welding equipment, documenting work, completing DOT forms, maintaining productivity, communicating with Shop Manager, complying with safety and environmental policies, maintaining service trucks, performing minor and advanced repairs on trailer equipment and systems, diagnosing malfunctions, assisting other technicians, and supporting parts acquisition. Requirements include High School Diploma/GED with 5 years related experience or equivalent combinations, possession of hand tools, preferred OEM training and certifications, passing DOT pre-employment screening and physical, valid driver’s license, and being at least 21 years old. Skills include knowledge of trailer parts and systems, problem-solving, physical ability to perform labor, communication skills, and logical reasoning. Required certifications or to be obtained within 18 months include ASE T8 (PMI), ASE 608/609, and CDL-A License. Preferred certifications include ASE T4, T5, T6, and T7.
