The Vehicle Condition Assessor (VCA) position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by accurately collecting, recording, and communicating information about customer appraisals to Buyers, Sr. Buyers and Purchasing Managers for analysis. VCA’s assist with customer transfers, complete lot merchandising activities, secure vehicles, and assist the Merchandising team with additional daily functions as needed. A VCA may also perform various wholesale auction responsibilities. Duties include conducting accurate vehicle condition assessments, accurate optioning of vehicles, quality and timely imaging of vehicles for CarMax websites, completing vehicle secures, walkarounds, assisting Merchandising Department with inventory and customer transfers, final condition verifications on inventory acquired through online channels, assisting in wholesale auction preparation and operation, partnering with Inventory and Sales Departments for lot merchandising, assisting with onboarding new associates, and completing assigned tasks independently. The role requires delivering exceptional customer service, following detailed processes, reading and transcribing data, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, effective communication, teamwork, and a valid driver’s license. Working conditions include walking, bending, kneeling or standing for extended periods, working outdoors in inclement weather, flexible work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adherence to CarMax policies and dress code.
